I just plain love this short little poem.

Ladders

My toes are curled around
the rungs of knowing you
Acrophobia, this way on ladders
They say it’s all a state of mind

Maybe so, unbalanced anyway,
up here without support
Not knowing if your hand
will steady me

Fear only disappears in trust
It takes a while, for me at least
Hold on, hold on
hold on

Mostly in Mornings
Days spent at windows,
guessing life
Expecting tiles to fly
Knowing they will

Solitude and no regret
It’s needed
mostly in mornings
Not always

I’m a good man
when I’m alone
But a better man
in someone’s arms
